Akira “Aki” Fujimoto, 89, of Honokaa died March 5 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Waipunalei, he was a retired diesel mechanic for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., member of Honokaa Hongwanji Mission, Hamakua Country Club, Hui Uruma Club, ILWU Local 142, former member of Civil Service Commission and U.S. Army World War II veteran. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Tuesday (March 21) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 5 p.m. Graveside urn committal service 9 a.m. Wednesday (March 22) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Robert “Bob” “R.D.” Donald Main, 79, of Holualoa and Honolulu died March 6 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, he was a retired nuclear engineer at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and former U.S. Navy lieutenant junior grade. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, March 27, at Mililani Memorial Park Mauka Chapel in Waipahu, Oahu. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial service 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, 45-349 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, Oahu. Survived by wife, Evelyn Main; sons Robert (Susan) Main of Aiea, Oahu, and David (Celia) Main of Honolulu; four grandchildren.

Sue M. Ota, 89, of Hilo died Jan. 24 at a Hilo care home. Born in Kainaliu, Kona, she was a retired registered nurse at the former Hilo Hospital. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Isabelo “Benny” Rances, 83, of Hilo, formerly of Seattle, died March 5 at home. Born in Alaminos, Pangasinan, the Phillipines, he was a retired executive chef at Renton Golf &Country Club in Washington and U.S. Coast Guard veteran. Private services at a later date.
